New platform canopy and new waiting area in Sarnen 2025
To improve passenger comfort at Sarnen station, Zentralbahn is building a new platform canopy on Track 2 and creating a waiting area inside the station building. The new canopy will be equipped with a photovoltaic system to enable sustainable power generation, and the low-voltage installations will be comprehensively renewed.
Refurbishment of the Kirchet and Cheisten tunnels by 2025
To ensure long-term stability and safety, Zentralbahn is refurbishing the Kirchet and Cheisten tunnels on the Meiringen–Innertkirchen line.
Emergency repairs in Brienz 2024
The severe storm in Brienz on 12 August 2024 caused significant damage to Zentralbahn’s infrastructure. The section between Brienz and Brienz West must be completely rebuilt and made operational again for rail traffic.
Refurbishment of the Ringgenberg station building 2024
The listed station building and the toilet facility are outdated and in need of refurbishment. Both buildings will be renovated and modernised. The works will take place from spring to winter 2024.
Redevelopment of Niederrickenbach Station 2024
Zentralbahn has been committed to barrier-free travel for many years. Today, over 95 per cent of its stations and stops are accessible. Niederrickenbach Station is one of the last remaining stops and will be redeveloped in autumn 2024.
Construction project Stansstad station 2024
Parts of the railway infrastructure at Stansstad station require refurbishment. The rails on Track 4 and two turnouts will be replaced, and the track superstructure will also be renewed. The works will be carried out during night-time intervals in autumn 2024.
