Lake Brienz

It is known for its deep blue colour and tranquil, unspoilt atmosphere. Unlike neighbouring Lake Thun, Lake Brienz is less densely populated. It is dominated by steep rock faces, dense forests and charming villages such as Iseltwald, which enchants visitors with its wooden houses right on the shore. During the journey, the boat glides past hidden bays, thundering waterfalls and the imposing Giessbachfluh.

The boat trip

The BLS boat service offers regular connections between Interlaken Ost and Brienz from spring to autumn, with intermediate stops at picturesque places such as Giessbach, Iseltwald or Niederried. The trip on the historic Giessbach Railway, the oldest funicular railway in Europe, which runs directly from the landing stage to the legendary Grandhotel Giessbach, is particularly popular.

On board the modern boats, guests can experience nature from a new perspective. A stylish on-board restaurant spoils you with regional specialities - whether it's breakfast on the water, a leisurely lunch or a sundowner in the early evening.
