Current situation

The building at Bahnhofstrasse 21 is currently used as a control center. Renovation work is essential to maintain reliable rail operations and comply with all regulations. The existing control center building at Bahnhofstrasse 21 will therefore be replaced by a new building at Bahnhofstrasse 25.

From May 2025, a modern operations building with a control center will be constructed, characterized by a sustainable low-tech approach and a walkway to the Cubus (the existing building at Bahnhofstrasse 23). The project combines modern usage concepts with sustainable construction principles and sets standards for the railway infrastructure of the future.

Objective of the construction project

  • New construction of an operations building to maintain reliable rail operations and comply with all regulations
  • Sustainable and future-oriented construction
  • Optimization of infrastructure with connection to the operations building

Construction work on the individual sub-projects

New NEXUS building – Bahnhofstrasse 25

The new building, called Nexus, not only offers modern workspaces for operations management, production planning, and a state-of-the-art control center, but also a new break room for employees. A third use is planned for the ground floor. One highlight is the planned footbridge connecting Nexus with Cubus, thereby optimizing the infrastructure.

Cubus – Bahnhofstrasse 23

The new connection to the new operations building requires various interior modifications to the existing operations building.
