Digitalisation – focusing on people.
News20.01.2022Thomas Keiser
Digitalisation is impacting the world of work. Processes are being redesigned and enhanced. The focus is on people, because digitalisation cannot work without them.
The world of work. People and technology
Systems and people are being networked. Cooperation between people and technology needs to be redefined as systems and people are becoming increasingly networked. The goal is to make mobile life easier, while remaining fully focused on people. Without that, digitalisation cannot work. Zentralbahn has embarked on a digitalisation programme with a project team of employees implementing the projects step by step. At all times, the focus is on ensuring that every step brings added value for employees and/or customers.
Changing job profiles
During the projects, employees are included, supported and trained. They learn how new tools and applications open up new possibilities for their daily work. Efficiency is improved and repetitive tasks are reduced as far as possible.
In areas where it is feasible, room for experimentation is provided. Cross-departmental and cross-divisional cooperation is encouraged. Of course, change can also be painful. Setbacks and delays should not be grounds for discouragement. Targeted training courses and learning forums help to break down barriers and enable participants to master their everyday working lives.
Successfully implemented projects
The following projects from the portfolio have directly or indirectly generated customer benefits.
Learning and training system for control staff
Disruptions to the Zentralbahn network pose challenges for the employees involved. Decisions have to be made as quickly as possible to restore normal operations. This is why traffic controllers prepare intensively for all conceivable scenarios. To meet this challenge, Zentralbahn has purchased a learning and training system (LTS) for realistic training and further education. Read the rest of the story here.
Automated measurement of rail infrastructure
Since 2019, Zentralbahn has equipped a FINK passenger train with a measuring system that collects data on the condition of the tracks during the journey. This simplifies the maintenance and helps to save costs. Find out more about how the “super train” works here.
