Mathias spent his career as an electrician. Thirty-eight years of shift work shaped his everyday life, with only a few Saturdays off. When he retired, he not only relinquished his responsibilities at Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (KWO), but also – after a grueling drive home from the Engadin – his car: “We don't have to go out into the wide world,” he says today with satisfaction, “the world comes to us with the Zentralbahn.” He gets around a lot with it, and in his own unique way: last year alone, Mathias traveled to Lucerne 29 times, to Interlaken 170 times, and took the Zentralbahn from Innertkirchen a total of 347 times. All neatly recorded. “I get everywhere I want to go.” His eyes sparkle mischievously: “Is that down to me? Or perhaps the railway?”

Thank you, Mathias. We're in good hands with you.

The following content may not be accessible. The video is decorative and shows Mathias on his way from Meiringen to Interlaken Ost. At the beginning of the video, he cheerfully waves to other passers-by he knows. He travels comfortably in first class on the train. This allows him to solve his crossword puzzle in peace. As soon as he arrives in Interlaken Ost, he pulls out his notebook, in which he carefully notes the number of his trips. He strolls calmly across the meadow and takes a photo of a tourist who has asked him to. He stops under a tree and says, “My name is Mathias and I'm enjoying my retirement with my first-class GA travelcard.” The tagline is: We travel well with you. That's a promise.
