At the heart of the picturesque Haslital valley, in the eastern Bernese Oberland, lies an imposing natural wonder – the Aare Gorge. At 1,400 metres long and up to 200 metres deep, it is one of the most impressive natural phenomena in our region. Visitors can explore this remarkable gorge over footbridges and through tunnels safely and comfortably in around 45 minutes. The constant cool temperatures of the gorge make it a welcome destination on hot days, while on rainy days it captivates visitors with its mystical atmosphere and incredible masses of water. Food and drink available with take-away options from restaurants at the Aare Gorge.
The Aare Gorge is easy and convenient to reach by public transport. There is a direct connection every hour from Interlaken and Lucerne to Meiringen.
From Meiringen station, the Zentralbahn Meiringen–Innertkirchen line runs directly to the Aare Gorge via the “Alpbach” and “Aareschlucht Ost” stops.
