Meiringen is embedded in the famous alpine passes of Grimsel, Susten, Grosse Scheidegg and Brünig. Meiringen is also initial point for a variety of beautiful places of excursions: Have for example a walk through the Aare gorge, which is a very special way to experience nature. Or take the Reichenbachfall funicular, which brings visitors up to the platform where the last duell of Sherlock Holmes took place.
